When it comes to enhancing the comfort and energy efficiency of your home, our ComforTech™ Ceramic Series window film provides an ideal solution to your window issues.
Designed for DIY homeowners, our home window tinting kits make professional-grade window tinting accessible and easy to install. In this post, we’ll explore the four types of precut kits available for our ComforTech™ Ceramic Series film: double hung window film kits, casement window film kits, storm door kits, and patio door kits.
Additionally, we’ll discuss options for windows that don’t fit standard sizes.
Benefits of Choosing Home Window Tinting Kits
When it comes to DIY window tinting, opting for precut home window tinting kits offers several distinct advantages over purchasing rolls of film:
Ease of Installation
With precut kits, installation is straightforward and user-friendly. Each piece of film is cut to the correct size for your type of sash, allowing you to focus on applying the film smoothly and evenly without worrying about cutting from a roll. This reduces the risk of measuring and cutting mistakes and ensures a professional-looking finish.
Time-Savings
Precut kits save you significant time compared to working with rolls of film. Since the film is already cut to size, you can complete your window tinting project more quickly, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of tinted windows sooner.
Reduced Waste
Using precut kits minimizes material waste. When working with rolls of film, it’s easy to make errors in measurement or cutting, leading to wasted film. Precut kits provide exactly what you need, reducing excess and helping you get the most out of your purchase.
Eliminates Overbuying
If you only have one or two windows or doors you want to film, buying a roll could result in a lot of leftover film you don’t need. Don’t pay for more film than what’s necessary!
In addition, if you wanted to use two different shades (or VLTs) in your home, you can do it with ease and without buying two different rolls for the two different shades.
Available Home Window Tinting Kits
We have four precut kits available to meet the needs of most standard window sizes in the United States.
Double-Hung Home Window Tinting Kits
What are Double-Hung Windows?
Double-hung windows are a popular choice in many homes due to their classic design and functional versatility. They consist of two sashes mounted vertically in a frame with the bottom sash overlapping the top sash where the meet. In a double-hung window, both sashes can move up and down in the track.
Single-hung windows are similar to double-hung windows. They look identical to double-hung windows. The only difference is that only the bottom half of the window slides in the track; the top half is stationary.
Double Hung Window Film Kits
Our double-hung window film kits are specifically tailored to fit these types of windows (both single and double-hung windows). Each kit includes two precut film pieces—one for the upper sash and one for the lower sash—ensuring a perfect fit and easy installation.
Each piece of film is precut to 30” x 36”. And it’s important to remember that the film can be oriented either way – so you can use it as a 36” x 30” piece if that fits your window better.
Our double-hung window film kits are our most popular kit, and it’s no wonder because double (and single) hung windows are the most common window type installed in U.S. homes.
To order this type of window kit, simply choose your ComforTech™ Ceramic Series shade, then on that shade’s product page, under Window Type choose: Double Hung Window. Then under Product Type, choose 1, 2 or 4 Window Kits. One kit is enough film for one double-hung window. Then choose the quantity you would like to purchase and add to cart!
Casement Home Window Tinting Kits
What are Casement Windows?
Casement windows, known for their side-hinged design and easy operation, are another common window type in residential settings.
Casement windows have two sashes mounted horizontally, side-by-side, in the window frame. Rather than moving up and down, the windows move outward away from the house wall. The most popular way to open and close these windows is a crank mechanism.
Casement windows were designed for areas where it might be difficult to get enough leverage to open a double or single-hung window. That is why you often see a house with all double-hung windows except for the kitchen, where a casement window is placed over the sink or counter.
It can be difficult to open a double-hung while leaning over a countertop, making the casement a better choice since it can be opened by the crank.
Casement Window Film Kits
Our casement window film kits are designed to fit these windows perfectly and can also be used for sliding or gliding windows, which often have similar-sized sashes.
Each casement kit contains two pieces of window film (one for each side-by-side sash) precut to 20” wide x 60” long.
To order this type of window kit, simply choose your ComforTech™ Ceramic Series shade, then on that shade’s product page, under Window Type choose: Casement Window. Then under Product Type, choose 1 Window Kit and then choose the quantity you would like to purchase and add to cart!
Storm Door Home Window Tinting Kits
Storm Doors
Storm doors provide an additional layer of protection and insulation for your home. People love them to let light into their homes and when used with a screen – fresh breezes.
But storm doors have some downsides. If you keep the glass door in your storm door most of the year (as I do – first because it’s too chilly for the screen and then because the air conditioning is on in the summer) heat buildup from the sun hitting the storm door can actually damage your front door.
And front doors aren’t cheap 😊 Read more about how storm doors can impact your front door here.
Storm Door Window Film Kits
Adding solar control glass to your storm door can reject the heat and protect your front door investment. It can also provide daytime privacy if using the 25, 15, or 05 shades. Keeping prying eyes out of your home, while allowing you to see out and to still let natural light in.
Our storm door kits are designed to fit most standard storm doors, offering a simple yet effective way to enhance your home’s energy efficiency and security. Each storm door kit comes with one piece of 36” wide x 76” tall film.
To order a storm door window kit, simply choose your ComforTech™ Ceramic Series shade, then on that shade’s product page, under Window Type choose: Storm Door. Then under Product Type, choose 1 Window Kit and then choose the quantity you would like to purchase and add to cart.
With our storm door kits, you can enhance both the functionality and appearance of your storm doors, creating a more comfortable and secure home environment.
Patio Door Home Window Tinting Kits
Patio Doors
Patio doors are a focal point in many homes, offering easy access to outdoor spaces and abundant natural light.
Patio doors are typically sliding doors – often called sliders or sliding glass doors. But can also be two regular hinged style doors with one door stationary and one that opens and closes. The standard size patio door in the United States is a 6’0” wide by 6’8” high unit.
Patio Door Window Film Kits
Our patio door kits are designed to fit most standard sliding glass doors and other large glass surfaces, providing the same benefits as our other window film kits.
Each patio door kit includes two pieces of 36” wide x 76” high window film, one for each door’s glass panel.
To order a patio door window kit, choose your ComforTech™ Ceramic Series shade, then on that shade’s product page, under Window Type choose: Patio Door. Then under Product Type, choose 1 Window Kit and then choose the quantity you would like to purchase and add to cart!
Our patio door kits ensure that you can enjoy your outdoor views without compromising on comfort or privacy. The high-quality ceramic film adds a layer of sophistication and functionality to your patio doors.
Home Window Tinting Kits for Unique Window Sizes
If your windows don’t fit into one of our standard kit sizes, don’t worry! We also offer custom kits cut to your window’s exact dimensions. This ensures that every window in your home can benefit from our high-quality ComforTech™ Ceramic Series film, regardless of size or shape.
To order custom kits, visit our Custom Kit page, choose your shade, and enter the dimensions of your glass. Please note that there are standard widths to choose from, and the length can be given in 1” increments.
Always add at least ½” of film to the length and width for final trimming at the window. Windows are not always plumb, and measurements are not always accurate, so the pros always add a bit and trim at the window for a perfect fit.
If the length of the film you need most closely matches one of the standard widths, please use that for the width (remember, the film can be oriented either way).
