Why order custom cut window film when you are looking to install film in your home? Let’s dive in.
Ways to Buy Concord Window Film
We have three ways you can purchase window tint from Concord Window Film: rolls, precut kits, and custom kits. You can read about the three ways here: https://windowfilm.com/how-to-buy-window-film-3-ways/
So, with so many ways to purchase, why order custom cut window film? First, let’s define what custom cut window film is.
What is Custom Cut Window Film?
Custom cut window film are pieces of film that are cut to the approximate size of your window. This service is only available for our best-selling window film: ComforTech™ Ceramic Series film.
Why is the film only cut to approximate size?
- In order to keep the cost of offering this service manageable, we are maintaining some standard widths that must be chosen. Those widths are: 24, 30, 36, 48, 60 and 72”. Lengths can be entered in any size in 1” increments from a minimum of 12” to a maximum of 180”
- Film is never cut to exact size for window film installation because too often, the window frame is not exactly true and square. The way the professionals do it is to trim the film at the window following the frame that holds the glass for a perfect fit.

Why Order Custom Cut Window Film?
There are three main reasons why customers opt to purchase a custom cut kit:
Save Time
Having the window film cut for you to the approximate sizes you need saves you time during installation. We will cut and label each piece of film for you by size so that all you need to do is clean the windows and start installing film. The measuring and cutting is done for you.
Simplify the Installation Process
Hand in hand with saving time, is simplifying the installation process. If you are a bit unsure about installation (don’t be! It’s not that hard 😊), having the film precut for you takes the guesswork out of installing window film.
Plus, you don’t need to worry about measuring, marking, and cutting the film to size from a larger piece of film or roll and potentially making a mistake during that step.
Minimize Waste
If your windows don’t fit into the standard precut kit sizes we offer, purchasing a roll of film might leave you with more film than you actually need.
Custom Cut Window Film Use Cases
Here are some typical use cases we see for why customers order custom cut window film:
Use Case #1:
Windows are too large or small for our precut kits – but you are only filming one or two windows and purchasing a roll would leave you with a lot of extra film
Use Case #2:
You are filming your double-hung windows in the house with our precut kits, but have one larger picture window you want to film as well.
Use Case #3:
All of your windows are a standard size, so you are purchasing a 36” roll for the cost savings, but you need one extra piece of film beyond the 25’ piece on the roll.

Ordering Steps
- First, you’ll choose the shade you want. For help in choosing a ComforTech Ceramic Series shade click here.
- Then take your glass measurements and add 1″ to the length and width for final trimming at the window.
- Click on the custom cut ordering page.
- Next choose the width – we have six standard widths to choose from: 24, 30, 36, 48, 60, and 72.
- Finally, enter the height – this is available in 1″ increments from 12” to 180”
Pro tip: you can orient the film either way on the window (i.e. reverse the width and length). So feel free to put the length in as the width if it matches up better with one of the standard widths and then enter the width as the length. This can result in a lower cost!
Each individual sheet of film that you order will have tabs attached for easy removal of the liner and will be individually labeled with the size of the piece of film.
