Best Solar Control Window Film

With the dog days of summer upon us, we are getting asked all the time: what is the best solar control window film shade?

All five of our ComforTech™ Ceramic Series window film shades are considered solar control film offering heat rejection, the trade-off is really between the film’s performance and how light you want the film.  In other words, if you are willing to have a darker film on your windows, the 05, our darkest film is hands down the top performer when it comes to reducing heat and blocking solar energy from entering the home. But, if you are worried about the film being too dark, the good news is you can go lighter and still get great results.

While ultimately, the decision is up to you, how dark you are willing to go in your home, if you’re trying to solve a serious heat issue, we recommend three options that will give you the heat reduction you need to make your home more comfortable during the hot months:

Best Solar Control Window Film

Characteristics of the Best Solar Control Window Film

Ceramic Technology

All our ComforTech™ film shades are made from nano-ceramic technology which offers superior heat rejection while creating a beautiful neutral shade that won’t fade over time like dyed films. Our nano-ceramic technology means that no dyes are used in our process, so our film will not fade or change color over time. The beautiful shade you choose is what you will have for the lifetime of the film.

Dual Reflectivity

ComforTech™ films are also all dual reflective which means the film reduces interior reflectivity at night but provides a stronger level of exterior reflectivity. This allows you to see outside at night when the lights are on and avoids creating an interior mirror.

UV Protection

ComforTech™ films all provide >99% protection against harmful UV rays. This protects you and your loved ones from the damage UV rays can do to your skin. Blocking UV rays means the film also blocks the main cause of fading. This means your wood floors, upholstered, wood or leather furniture, and your art are all protected from the damage prolonged exposure to the sun can cause.

Easy to Install

A good window film is no good to anyone if it is impossible to install on windows. Our professional-grade film is made for DIY homeowners like yourself to install confidently and successfully. There are two main factors that make our film easier to install than what you can purchase in the big box stores or on Amazon:

Thicker Film

Our film is two-ply – this is a professional-grade film. It’s thicker and won’t crinkle or wrinkle as easily as the thinner 1-ply film you can buy online or in the big boxes. When you compare the two side by side, as we have, our film is much more forgiving when handling. Check out their reviews to see some of the biggest complaints.

Dry Adhesive

Our film comes with a dry adhesive – which means when you remove the liner, the film is not sticky to the touch. The adhesive is activated with water. This makes the film much easier to handle – it doesn’t stick to itself or the table or anything it touches. Again, peruse the reviews from the big box and no-name brands and you’ll see the frustration others have trying to install it.
