ComforTech Film
for Your Project

Enter your glass dimensions and we'll recommend exactly what to buy — from precut kits to custom kits to rolls.

Glass Measurements

💡 Measure the glass only (not the frame). We'll automatically round up your dimensions for trimming — measurements ending in ½" or less round up to the next inch; over ½" rounds up two inches.

How to Use the Window Film Calculator

  1. Measure the width and the length of each pane of glass you want to film. Check out our tutorial on measuring your windows for help with this step.
  2. Enter the width and height of each pane of glass into the calculator – for example, you will enter the bottom sash of a double hung window separately from the top sash.
  3. Enter the quanitity of each window you need at that size.
  4. Click the + button to add an additional window to your calculation
  5. When you have entered all of the panes of glass for your project – click the blue Calculate Film Needed button and the calculator will display the film amount needed for your project as well as the options you have to purchase film from us (precut kits, custom kits or rolls).

How the Window Film Calculator Works

Our window film calculator helps you estimate the amount of window film needed for your project. Simply enter:

    • Window width

    • Window height

    • Number of windows

The calculator converts your measurements into the total square footage of window film required at each width. It then determines the most efficient and inexpensive way to purchase the film:

    • Pre-cut window film kits

    • Custom cut window film

    • Rolls of window film

The calculator will present all options that make sense for the sizes of film you need. The goal is simple: make planning your DIY window film installation easier. Many homeowners use this calculator before purchasing solar control window filmprivacy window film, or UV blocking window film for their homes.

FAQs

Can I install window film on double pane windows?

Yes! All of Concord Window Film’s products are double pane (dual pane) glass safe up to 40 sqft in size.

Can I install your window film on the outside of my windows?

No, all of the film we sell is manufactured for interior installation.

Does your privacy film work at night?

There are two types of privacy film: transparent and opaque.

Transparent privacy film can only provide daytime privacy. Our three darkest ComforTech Ceramic Series shades provide daytime privacy: 25, 15, and 05. 25 is the lightest of the three shades and 05 is the darkest.

If you want both day and nighttime privacy you would need an opaque window film like our Matte White Privacy.

No transparent privacy film can provide 100% privacy. You would need to obscure the window completely to do that. That’s because transparent film works by creating a one-way mirror effect on the exterior side of the window when it is brighter outside than it is inside. Because this effect depends on outside light conditions in relation to inside conditions, as those exterior conditions change (i.e. during a storm with dark clouds, a very cloudy day, or as the sun sets) and in turn the interior conditions change (you turn on the lights) the amount of reflection the film creates on the exterior decreases.

Some things you can do to improve the privacy is to make the outside in front of the windows bright at night with house lights or landscaping lighting. Again, the brighter it is outside, the better the mirror effect will be.
Do I need to purchase the installation tool kit?

We recommend you purchase the installation tool kit along with your film. The tool kit contains everything professionals would use to install the window film.

Using the wrong tools – especially during the squeegeeing phase of installation or the wrong installation solution – can lead to installation problems.

For example, having bubbles appear under the film after it has dried is a sign that it has not been properly squeegeed. You need the correct tool that is hard enough to press all the water and solution out from under the film without damaging the film itself.

And using anything other than slip-tack solution or baby shampoo in the installation solution can leave behind a residue under the film that will compromise the optical clarity of the film.

It’s also important that you use a clean spray bottle when mixing the installation solution. Any residue from past chemicals or detergents that were previously in the bottle can adversely affect the film and/or it’s adhesive.

You can purchase our Installation Tool Kit here.

What comes in the sample kit?

The kit contains 5″ x 7″ samples of all five shades of our ComforTech Ceramic Series film, as well as a sample of our Matte White Privacy film and our Silver 15 Reflective film.

The kit costs $5, but there is a coupon code in the kit for $5 off your first film purchase.

How do you ship the film?

We ship all of our film via UPS. Once an ordered has been packaged for shipment and the warehouse generates a UPS label for the package, you will receive an email with UPS tracking information.

Most UPS packages arrive between 2-5 days depending on where you live.

If you have any questions about your package, please contact us directly at support@windowfilm.com or 888-206-1413.

Can I return the film?

The short answer is yes, you can. We will always take back film that has been damaged in transport or has a manufacturing defect.

If you decide you don’t want the film for whatever reason we will accept returns of unopened, unused film only.

Because we want to ensure that everyone receives the best product, and due to the fragile nature of window film in general, we do not resell film that has been handled.
