From inside the home, ceramic film remains incredibly discreet. You can see from the picture above that the filmed window pane does not look much different from the open space next to it. There is a slight tint to ComforTech 45 and that is what provides the heat and glare reduction of the film.
Ceramic films are designed to maintain a soft, natural daylight appearance, and Brian’s interior photos show:
No noticeable tint shift in room color

Brian’s exterior photos show just how neutral and non-reflective ComforTech Ceramic 45 film appears from the outside. Unlike many big-box films that introduce a shiny, metallic or mirrored finish, ceramic films stay true to the natural appearance of your windows.
It is important to note that even clear glass has some reflectivity and adding anything but a clear window film to glass will inrease the reflectivity somewhat. But if you compare ComforTech 45’s exterior reflectivity to that of clear glass – you see that the effect is minimal. Indeed, in Brian’s example and you can see that the interior blings and dog figurine are clearly visible from the outside.

The TLDR; version is that you need to measure both the width and height of just the glass right up to the frame (but not including the frame!). Then note down those EXACT numbers (no rounding!). For older windows, it can be a good idea to take the height and width measurement in three places on a piece of glass (the top, the middle and the bottom) to make sure they are all within 1/4″ of each other. Older windows can be out of plumb and you don’t want to order a piece of film based on one measurement only to find it doesn’t fit the glass.
Now that you know the measurements of each piece of glass you want to film – you need to aggregate that to see how much TOTAL film you need. If you are just doing one door or window, this step isn’t necessary – you can just check your window or door measurements against our pre0cut kit sizes to see if you can use one of those. If your measurements are outside of those, you can use our custom cut film option to get a piece of film to fit your door/window.
