When homeowners begin looking for ways to reduce glare, protect furnishings, and improve comfort without changing the appearance of their windows, ceramic window film often rises to the top of the list. In this case study we draw from Brian, one of our customer’s ComforTech Ceramic 45 Window Film Review, where we highlight his real-world installation, including his provided interior and exterior photos, his full customer review, and how our lightest ceramic film performed in his home.
This ComforTech Ceramic 45 Window Film Review and Case Study is designed to give future DIY customers a clear look at what to expect from ComforTech 45—from film clarity, to installation, to day-to-day performance—and to explain why our ComforTech Ceramic Series outperforms big-box brands in both quality and results.
⭐ ComforTech Ceramic 45 Window Film Review
Brian installed ComforTech Ceramic 45 on his south-facing bay window—one of the most heat-intensive window configurations a home can have. Here is his full review, exactly as shared:
“Installation went very well in part due to the quality of the installation kit. It drastically cut the solar load from our south facing bay window. Would recommend.”
– Brian P.
This review highlights two critical outcomes that matter to homeowners:
-
Ease of installation, especially for DIY customers
-
Significant heat reduction, even with our lightest ceramic film
Brian also provided a clear exterior photo of his results, which helps illustrate how subtle and natural the film appears once applied.
ComforTech Ceramic 45 Window Film Review Inside and Outside Photos
Brian’s photo set included clear interior and exterior shots, showing the real-world clarity and finish of ceramic film. Let’s break down what these images demonstrate:
ComforTech Ceramic 45 Window Film Review Interior Photo

From inside the home, ceramic film remains incredibly discreet. You can see from the picture above that the filmed window pane does not look much different from the open space next to it. There is a slight tint to ComforTech 45 and that is what provides the heat and glare reduction of the film.
Ceramic films are designed to maintain a soft, natural daylight appearance, and Brian’s interior photos show:
-
No noticeable tint shift in room color
-
Excellent outward visibility
-
A subtle reduction in glare
-
No mirrored or darkened interior effect
This is one of the biggest advantages of ceramic technology—especially for homeowners who want performance without altering the look of their living spaces.
ComforTech Ceramic 45 Window Film Review Exterior Photo
Brian’s exterior photos show just how neutral and non-reflective ComforTech Ceramic 45 film appears from the outside. Unlike many big-box films that introduce a shiny, metallic or mirrored finish, ceramic films stay true to the natural appearance of your windows.
It is important to note that even clear glass has some reflectivity and adding anything but a clear window film to glass will inrease the reflectivity somewhat. But if you compare ComforTech 45’s exterior reflectivity to that of clear glass – you see that the effect is minimal. Indeed, in Brian’s example and you can see that the interior blings and dog figurine are clearly visible from the outside.
His exterior shots show:
-
No distortion
-
No mirror-like reflection
-
A uniform, professionally installed aesthetic
-
A clean appearance that meets even strict HOA rules
This is particularly important for homes with front-facing windows or storm doors—areas where homeowners want protection without obvious changes to curb appeal.
Why Our ComforTech Ceramic Film Outperforms Big-Box Store Films
Big-box stores carry window film, but the products differ significantly from professional-grade ceramics like our ComforTech series. This is where Brian—and many homeowners—see the biggest performance jump.
1. True Nano-Ceramic Construction
Many DIY films rely on dyed layers or low-grade metals. These films:
-
Fade over time
-
Have the same reflectivity inside and outside
-
Distort visibility
-
Offer limited heat rejection
Our ComforTech Ceramic films are built with true nano-ceramic particles, meaning:
-
Long-term optical clarity
-
Consistent performance for years
- Are Dual Reflective which means the reflectivity of the interior side of the film is much lower than the reflectivity of the exterior side of the film. This reduces the mirror effect inside the home at night.
-
No dyes to fade or discolor
-
The highest levels of solar rejection available
2. Superior UV & Heat Blocking
Ceramic films can achieve powerful solar rejection without making the film darker. This is the difference between “cheap tint” and engineered ceramic technology.
ComforTech films block:
-
99% of UV radiation
-
Lowers the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of the windows making them more efficient. Want to know more about Solar Heat Gain Coefficient and why the National Fenestration Rating Council (the agency that rates the energy efficiency of BOTH windows and window film) uses it as the key metric for measuring windows and window film? Read this: https://windowfilm.com/solar-heat-gain-coefficient-window-film/
Fading is caused 40% by UV rays, 25% by visible light rays, and 25% by infrared rays or heat. Only a film addressing all three can help protect flooring, furnishings, artwork, and pets—something lower-grade films cannot achieve.
3. Installation Quality
Big-box store films tend to:
-
Be thinner (1MIL vs. ComforTech’s 2MIL) making them more susceptible to creasig and tearing
- Have a pressure sensitive or sticky adhesive vs. ComforTech’s dry adhesive. Films with pressure sensitive adhesives can stick to themselves making installation trickier.
-
Some retail films are not professional permanent window films but are static cling films. These are thicker and can produce a less optically clear or hazy appearance. Static cling films are a totally different product made from vinyl not plastic like pro-grade films.
ComforTech films are engineered for durability and professional appearance—even when installed by first-time DIYers.
4. Long-Term Longevity
While off-the-shelf films may require replacement every few years, ceramic films are built for the long term – up to 20 years —maintaining both clarity and performance.

How to Order ComforTech Ceramic Film From Concord Window Film
If Brian’s results inspire you to begin your own DIY installation, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.
Step 1: Evaluate Your Windows
Before choosing your film shade, it’s useful to determine:
-
Your heat concerns
-
The direction your windows face
- The condition your windows are in
-
Whether your windows are single- or double-pane
-
Your desired appearance
- Other situations that might preclude adding film to your home
We created a complete guide:

Step 2: Measure Your Windows Correctly
Accurate measurements ensure a proper fit and the right amount of film!
You can follow our simple guide here:
👉 How to Measure Your Windows
https://windowfilm.com/how-to-measure/
The TLDR; version is that you need to measure both the width and height of just the glass right up to the frame (but not including the frame!). Then note down those EXACT numbers (no rounding!). For older windows, it can be a good idea to take the height and width measurement in three places on a piece of glass (the top, the middle and the bottom) to make sure they are all within 1/4″ of each other. Older windows can be out of plumb and you don’t want to order a piece of film based on one measurement only to find it doesn’t fit the glass.
Step 3: Calculate the Amount of Film You Need
Now that you know the measurements of each piece of glass you want to film – you need to aggregate that to see how much TOTAL film you need. If you are just doing one door or window, this step isn’t necessary – you can just check your window or door measurements against our pre0cut kit sizes to see if you can use one of those. If your measurements are outside of those, you can use our custom cut film option to get a piece of film to fit your door/window.
But if you have many windows to do that are different sizes or a combination of windows and doors – you might be wondering if a roll of film is a more cost-effective way to purchase film (rolls have the lowest price per square foot) or if you can use a combination of pre-cut kits and custom kits. It can get complicated – so we devised a window film calculator to help you determine how much film you need for your project.
