From time to time, we like to highlight a window film before and after for other customers to see it installed. This ComforTech™ 25 window film before and after transformation is a great one where Stephanie, a homeowner in Minnesota, solves a heat and glare problem in her dining room. And she gets some added daytime privacy to boot.
Stephanie reports that on sunny days in the summer the room was almost unusable. Family members were squinting from the sun and the heat around the table would be too much. In addition, the dining nook – with its five windows making up the bay – was exposed to neighbors and street traffic. Stephanie said it sometimes felt like a fishbowl.

The key performance specifications for solar control window films are Total Solar Energy Rejected (TSER) and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). TSER is the percentage of solar energy that hits a window that is rejected by the window (+ film). Here the higher the number, the stronger the solar control.
Conversely, SHGC is a measure of how much heat passes through a glazing system (window + film). With this measurement, the lower the number the better the solar control.
In addition, some films provide enough exterior reflectance to offer daytime privacy. These films do this by creating a one way mirror effect when it is brighter outside than it is inside. Three of our ComforTech Ceramic Series films offer daytime privacy and are considered privacy window films: ComforTech 25, 15 and 05.
Stephanie found the installation process to be easy and was able to prep and film all five of her windows in one day. She notes that trimming the film takes some time and care and is probably the hardest step, but that it got easier with each window completed.

After the ComforTech™ 25 is installed, you see a noticeable difference in the amount of light and glare coming through the bay windows. And the privacy the film affords during the day is terrific without being too shiny. The reflection is a more neutral charcoal look.
